Patrol Manager

Summary of Responsibilities:    

 Reporting to the Safety Manager, the Patrol Manager will supervise, control and coordinate all activities and responsibilities of the Ski Patrol Department and will liaise with other departments on matters related to public and staff safety, first-aid and search & rescue activities.

 

Responsibilities:             

  •  To uphold Mount Seymour’s mandate to “provide fun, safe and enriching experiences to guests and staff by providing professional and efficient customer service, progressive programs and appropriate facilities that will enhance the authentic Mt. Seymour  family tradition”.
  •  Correspond/liaise with government agencies as required (BC Parks, WorkSafe BC, RCMP, PEP, ITA etc.)
  • Responsible for all functions of the Patrol department including recruitment, hiring, training agenda development, staff training and discipline.
  •  Ensure - through on-going training and education – safety/ski patrol staff maintain an ‘industry best’ level of proficiency in all areas of responsibilities.
  •  Establish and maintain Incident statistics for review with Safety Manager.
  •  Responsible for all guest accident investigations.
  •  Provide support to Safety Manager regarding Occupational Health and Safety Program including staff injury investigations
  • Supervise and assist with opening and closing runs, fencing and/or removing hazards, ski/snowboard traffic control and public education
  • Control and coordinate First-Aid, Search & Rescue, medical and lift evacuations.
  • Ensure correct documentation is obtained and files are properly managed with respect to any and all incidents occurring at the Resort.  This information to be made available to the Safety Manager.
  • Accurate collection of weather data for the Mystery and Brockton plot to be communicated at the predetermined times.
  •  Provide support to Base Radio with staffing and other requests
  •  Ensure all new employee start-up packages are complete and are sent to Safety Manager prior to cut-off.
  •  Maintain a high level of enthusiasm and teamwork in the department
  •  Ensure all policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  •  Report and rectify any unsafe acts.
  •  Maintain excellent inter-departmental relations and follow other responsibilities as required

 Qualifications:

  •   Occupational First Aid Level 3 Certification or higher.
  •  Good physical condition.
  •  Strong communication skills.
  •  Supervisory experience in a Ski Patrol or related field.
  •  Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.
  •  Able to be a team member.

 Terms of Employment:

  •  Seasonal position, October until end of April
  •  Salary, dependent on level of experience.
