Safety Coordinator

Full-Time, Year Round Position. Are you passionate about ensuring the safety and well-being of others while enjoying the thrill of a dynamic mountain environment?

We're seeking a dedicated Safety Coordinator to join our team and take charge of the overall health and safety of our staff and guests.

Summary of Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our Occupational Health and Safety Program, driving initiatives for prevention and claims management. Your role involves liaising with industry and government agencies, conducting risk assessments, developing training programs, and managing injury claims. You'll oversee all Code 5 incidents and collaborate closely with both Mt Seymour Resorts and Sea to Sky Parks Services.

 

Responsibilities Include

- Corresponding with industry and government agencies, ensuring compliance, and fostering strong relationships.

- Managing our Occupational Health and Safety Program, from review and revision to execution and enforcement.

- Developing and delivering comprehensive training programs to ensure a culture of safety throughout our organization.

- Overseeing worker injury claims and near misses, including reporting, investigations, and facilitating return-to-work options.

- Playing a key role in managing Code 5 incidents involving company equipment and facilities.

- Providing support in operational areas such as snow removal, lift operations, and emergency response during winter operations.

 

Qualifications

- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

- Previous supervisory experience in tourism or recreation, ideally in a ski resort setting.

- Intermediate skiing or snowboarding skills.

- Occupational First Aid Level 3 certification (or willingness to obtain).

- COR Internal Auditor Certification Course (or willingness to obtain).

· Foundations of Workplace Safety Course (go2HR); or willing to obtain.

· Occupational Health and Safety Program Fundamentals (go2HR); or willing to obtain.

· BSAFE Training Course (go2HR); or willing to obtain.

- Own vehicle required.

Terms of Employment

- Full-time, permanent position with competitive salary ($58,000-$75,000 per annum).

- Vacation pay accrual, employee benefits, and family seasons passes.

- RRSP plan membership and up to 80 hours of banked time throughout the summer.

- Probationary period of 3 months.
